As packaging legislation evolves at record speed, we are seeking a new team member who can stay ahead of the curve. In this role, you will track and analyse upcoming regulatory requirements, translate these into actionable insights, and support our clients in making future-proof packaging decisions. If you enjoy connecting the dots between policy, science, and business, this is your chance to make a real impact. In this role you will be based in Beuningen, the Netherlands.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Stay informed about and interpret existing and future packaging legislation;
  • Maintain contact with authorities and other parties that develop and/or have insight into future packaging legislation to monitor legislative developments;
  • Inform clients of potential legislative changes and advise them on complex packaging compliance issues;
  • Support clients in preparing compliant environmental claim statements;
  • Monitor developments and insights from Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies and analyse their representation in current or future legislation;
  • Contribute to the improvement of packaging choices from a regulatory perspective;
  • Follow rules and standards evolving for LCA;
  • Contribute to the development of new services for The LCA Center.

You have
  • a completed master’s degree in the field of environmental policy, environmental governance, public administration, political science, science & technology, packaging technology, or in a related field;
  • knowledge about packaging legislation in the European Union, including with regard to packaging circularity, environmental claims, chemical safety, and packaging-specific due diligence;
  • an understanding of the processes of developing new EU and Dutch legislation;
  • ability to interpret both legal and scientific texts and to explain them clearly to an uninformed audience;
  • knowledge about packaging and LCA and the ability to link this information with relevant legislation;
  • an understanding of the methods used to determine the composition of packaging materials.
You also possess
  • attention to detail;
  • the ability to evaluate information objectively (i.e. unbiased);
  • strong communicative and writing skills;
  • excellent English skills (C1 level);
  • organisational skills;
  • the ability to work both independently and in a team;
  • willingness to travel to other (EU) countries.

Our team has extensive expertise in the areas of packaging technology, material sciences, eco-innovation and packaging compliance. The LCA Center supports governments, academia, industry and NGOs in the form of packaging-related forensic studies, LCAs and insight into forward regulatory developments.
